Go Red event free for women set Feb. 5 in Pocomoke City

CRISFIELD — The TriCounty Go Red Committee will hold the 11th annual Go Red event 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Pocomoke Community Center, 1410 Market Street. This free event features exhibitors, health screenings a light interactive exercise demonstration, cooking demonstration by Lynn Matava of The County Tart, dinner and door prizes.

The motivational speaker will be Alishia Louis Potter of Empowered Women Ministries.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing one in three deaths in women each year. Go Red For Women is an initiative of the American Heart Association and the partners in the tri-county committee include the McCready Foundation, Atlantic General, PRMC and health departments.

Women attending are encouraged to wear red, the official color for raising awareness about heart disease in women. Register by Feb. 2 at www.wicomicohealth.org or call 410-641-9268.
