CRISFIELD - Mrs. Gladys Marie Webb, wife of James Webb and a resident of Crisfield, Md., passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 in Westover, Md. Born Dec. 27, 1939 in Onancock, Va., she was a daughter of the late Tully and Amy Shields. Gladys worked at Mrs. Paul's Kitchen for nearly twenty years, until its closing in 1991. She greatly enjoyed shopping and traveling, recently returning from a trip to Tennessee, but her greatest loves were church and family. She was a devoted member of Crisfield Wesleyan Church; however her service to God did not end there, often volunteering her time to other churches throughout the community. Although she'd never give away her secret recipes, she always had a warm meal prepared for all who came to visit and an open invitation to anyone who wanted to try to out shop her. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, Rose M. Howard and husband Jack R. of Westover, Linda A. Carman and husband Charles L., James A. Webb, Jr., and David A. Webb, all of Crisfield, Toni L. Richards and husband Stephen T. of Eden, Md., and Bobby W. Webb of Shelltown, Md.; ten grandchildren, Jack R. Howard, Jr., Amy M. Howard, Jeanie R. Ward, Lance W. Carman, Carrie A. Jester, Christina M. Retchler, Danielle M. Webb, Amanda L. Richards, Kyle K. Richards, and Bobbie L. Webb; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, Maurice G. Figgs. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral were held at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church on Thursday Nov. 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Bob Daniels officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery with a reception at the church. There was a visitation at the church on Wednesday, Nov.12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Gladys' memory to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979, or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
