SALISBURY - George William Barrett died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the Salisbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., he was the son of the late Aidan Barrett and Marion O'Hara Barrett. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in New York, as well as Bass Unlimited. He was a retired Teamster and worked in commercial concrete for Colonial Sand and Stone. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy W. Barrett; two sons, George T. Barrett of Ocean City and Daniel W. Barrett of Salisbury; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer McNally Morris; two brothers, John and William; and five sisters, Rose Mary, Marion, Florence, Patricia and Alice. A committal service with military honors was held Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at the Eastern Shore Maryland Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
