George Stanley, Jr., of Roxbury, Massachusetts departed this life on March 2, 2021. Born on February 6, 1937, he was 84 years old. He was educated in the Dorchester County, Maryland Public Schools System and later enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably.
George relocated to Boston, Massachusetts and there he met and married Ella Mae Frazier. That union welcomed a daughter, Mona Olivia Young and a son, Steven Hamilton Stanley. George was also the father of twin daughters, Caryn and Crystal Bonner.
George was a faithful member of the historic Charles Street AME Church in Roxbury, Massachusetts, where he served as an usher and as a member of the Brotherhood Men's Choir.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Stanley; his parents, George and Mamie Stanley; and one daughter, Caryn Bonner. He is survived by two daughters, Mona Olivia Young (Larry) and Crystal Bonner; and one son, Steven Hamilton Stanley: seven grandchildren, Chaijuana Snow, Devon Stanley, Chantel DaCosta, Chakara Bonner, Taylor Bonner, J'Neen Seney (Wedley), Renecia Benn (Arthur); three great-grandchildren, J'Nai Sibley, Loyalty Seney, Arthur Benn, Jr., all from Massachusetts; four sisters, Evelyn Sampson, Gloria Henry (William), Geraldine Pauls (William), and Thelma Sterrett; one aunt, Janet Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. A special thank you to Ms. Inez Cook of Roxbury, Massachusetts, a wonderful friend and neighbor who was his guardian angel during his illness.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 9 a.m.to 10 a.m., at the Waitt Funeral Home in Brockton, Massachusetts. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m.
