George R. Beck of Dover, DE, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Beck was the son of the late George W. Beck, Jr. and Louise Jeanette Schneider Beck. Mr. Beck grew up in Denton, MD and was a 1968 graduate of North Caroline High School. After graduation he attended Delaware Technical Community College where he earned an associate's degree in electronics. On July 6, 1970, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served 4 years of active duty and 30 years as a reservist. He was also employed as a civilian contractor at Dover Air Force Base, where he specialized as an Integrated Avionics Systems Craftsman and Communications, Navigation and Mission Craftsman. He worked on the radio systems of C5 aircraft until his retirement in 2006. George also owned Richardson Electronics where he repaired electronic items regularly for Earl Teat Music and Bobby Carter's TV Repair. George's mechanical ability was evident at an early age. He got his first car, a 1964 Pontiac Catalina convertible as payment for working in his father's garage. Throughout his life he had a passion for Pontiacs. In his spare time, he loved to work on his two classic Pontiac convertibles. He would take them to rallies and conventions, once traveling as far away as California where his Pontiac Catalina won best in class.
