George Harrison Meekins III, 57

CAMBRIDGE - George Harrison Meekins, III, of Cambridge, departed this life on Monday, April 13, 2009, in Dorchester General Hospital after a short illness. He was 57. He leaves to mourn his loss and to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Barbara Meekins; one son, Jermaine Meekins (both of Cambridge); two step-daughters, Janell Fisher (Baltimore) and Sherlyn Harris (Hampton, Ga.); six grandchildren, JaKeila Meekins, JaWon Molock, TyAsia Meekins, Troy Harris Jr., Kendra Fisher and Janay Harris; one brother, Thomas Meekins (Lucille), Woodlawn, Md; two sisters, Joyce Sample (Michael) and Janet Mosby (both of Delaware); father in-law, Leroy Sharp (Cambridge); five brothers in-law, Emerson Brown (Elizabeth), James, Larry, Angelo and Leroy Sharp Jr. (all of Cambridge); four sisters-in-law, Elsie Anderson (Andrew), Gloria Berry (Henry), Christine and Gwen Sharp (all of Cambridge) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. There are two special friends that he spent time with Jerome Ennals and James "Cheese" Keene. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church 425 High St. Cambridge with a viewing Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
