Free diabetes education program starts again Sept. 12 in Princess Anne

DiabetesWESTOVER — The Somerset County Health Department is offering a free Diabetes Prevention Program to county residents starting Monday, Sept. 12. Educational sessions will be held each Monday at the Princess Anne Library, 11767 Beechwood Street, from 5 to 6 p.m.

The program offers one-on-one and group support with a Certified Lifestyle Coach to lose weight and reduce risk for diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Participants will learn how to eat better, plan healthy meals, increase physical activity and manage weight loss.

Call 443-523-1760 for more information or to register. Registration is required. Funding for this program is made possible from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Center for Chronic Prevention and Control.
