SALISBURY - Frederick "Jerry" LeCates, Sr., 76, of Salisbury, died on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Seaford, he was the son of the late Nelson and Mary Millman. He was a 1957 graduate of Wi-Hi and served in the U.S. Army for six years. He was a lifetime member of the Salisbury Fire Department, Station 2. During his 43 years with the fire department, he served in various capacities, including President. He retired in 2003, as a proud Teamster truck driver after 38 years. He played fast-pitch softball for various teams at both the old and new Harmon Fields. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joan M. LeCates; a daughter, Sherry Lynn LeCates; a granddaughter; a son; Jerry LeCates of Kingsland, Texas; a daughter, Tammy Shonkwiler, of Salisbury; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Sammy Millman of Greenwood; a sister, Pat Russum of Magnolia and Ellie Rebert of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Entombment was held in Wicomico Memorial Park.
