BANNING, Calif. - Freddie Lee "Joe" Cornish, passed away Jan. 7, 2008 in Banning.

He was born Dec. 11, 1950 in Cambridge, son of the late Lorraine Cornish and Oscar Charles.

He received his education in the Dorchester County Public Schools and has resided in Banning for the past 30 years. His occupation was a truck driver.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Angelita Cornish of Banning; a grandson, Geron Como; four sisters, Ruby Cornish Wilson, Valarie Cornish, Lachelle Cornish, all of Cambridge, and Laverne Cornish of Silver Spring; three brothers, Irvin Cornish, Cedric Cornish (Bozie), Orlando Cornish and his wife, Gail, all of Cambridge; close friends, Clarence Cornish, the Rev. Lemuel Chester and Cortez Johnson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Butler of Banning, Calif.; maternal grandparents, Artemus and Willie Cornish.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev.Yvonne Wallace-Penn officiating. Burial will be at Christ Rock Cemetery.

A funeral service was held in San Carlos, Ariz. with services provided by Wiefels Mortuary Services on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation (hometown of his wife and daughter).
