SEAFORD, Del. - Franklin D. Bolden, 73, formerly of Finchville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at his residence in Seaford.

He was born April 3, 1933, in Federalsburg, the son of the late Vernon Benjamin Bolden Sr. and Bertha Tilghman Bolden. His wife, Deann Bennett Bolden, preceded him in death.

He worked for Townsend Co. for many years, retiring in 1995. He had worked for the former Acme Canning Co. in Hurlock, and the former Clam Factory in Bridgeville, Del.

He was a baseball player and helped organize a community team.

He is survived by eight children, Pendora J. Cannon of Dorchester, Mass., Marie V. Cannon of Jamaica Plain, Mass., Annette Bolden of Baltimore, Demetris Bennett of Salisbury, Frankie Brown of Ridgely, Decarlos B. Bey of Cumberland, Tyree Cannon and Marcus Cannon, both of Boston, Mass.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Batson of Federalsburg and Catherine Lewis of Finchville, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Reba Bolden, Ida Bolden, Ollie Bolden, Vernon Bolden Jr., Tyree Bolden and George Bolden.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Stanley Ricketts officiating. Burial will follow in Cokesbury Cemetery near Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
