CHURCH CREEK - Frank M. Cone Jr., 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, on Route 335 at Church Creek.

Born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Fairfield, Conn., he was the son of the late Frank M. Cone Sr. and Catherine Baker Cone.

Mr. Cone graduated from Roger Ludlowe High, Class of 1954.

Mr. Cone served his country in the U.S. Army from April 25, 1957, to March 31, 1963, when he was honorably discharged.

Mr. Cone worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 34 years and retired in 1993. In 1995, he and his wife made Church Creek their home.

On Aug. 4, 1962, he married the former Cecile P. Lafontaine.

Mr. Cone was a communicant of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Golden Hill, and was a member of the American Legion Post 91.

Surviving is his wife, Cecile P. Cone of Church Creek, and four children, Diane P. Vander Giessen and her husband, Jim of Virginia, Janet A. Merrifield and her husband, John of Connecticut, James Frank Cone and his wife, Dawn of Virginia, Carol R. Melio and her husband, Bruce of Virginia; seven grandchildren - Thomas, Cullen and Lindsay Merrifield of Connecticut, Morgen Vander Giessen of Virginia, Madison Butler of Virginia, Alexis and Julien Melio of Virginia and six siblings - Barbara Antolini and her husband, Ernest of Connecticut, Mary Ann Cooney and her husband, Mel of Connecticut, Ronald Cone and his wife, Barbara of New Hampshire, Marlene Cone of Connecticut, Linda DiPietro and her husband, Dan of Connecticut and Richard Cone and his wife, Mary Lou of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mr. Cone's memory to St. Vincent DePaul, St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, P.O. Box 218, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Arrangements are being handled by Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge.
