LANSDALE, Pa. - Mr. F. Allan Hofmann of Lansdale, Pa; formerly of Phildelphia, entered into rest on Feb. 12, 2016 at Dock Woods Community. Allan was born in Philadelphia on Oct. 10, 1922 to the late Frederic and Ruth (Allan) Hofmann. He was the loving husband of the late Lule Belle Waters who preceded him in death in 1985. Allan then married Violet Schultz Sherman who also preceded him in death. His early education at Stoney Brook School and Drexel University were interrupted by his enlistment in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. After his discharge he enrolled in the King's College, Newark, Delaware. The majority of his vocational career was with the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic and the University of Penn Dental School. He retired in 1985. He had diverse interests including restoring vintage Mercedes and advocating for Smith Island, Md., watermen's rights and welfare. His lifelong passion, however, was to share the good news of Jesus Christ to anyone he would encounter. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth H. Anderson and husband, Rev. Richard, of Millersburg, Pa., Rosemary Hofmann Bailey and husband, David, of Hollywood, Md.; and a son, F. Allan Hofmann, Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Malvern, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Catherine (Hofmann) MacMoran and husband, Alfred of Clearwater, Fla. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday June 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Arrangements by: Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad Street, Souderton, PA 18964. To send online condolences to the family, visit www.andersfh.com.
