CAMBRIDGE - Evelyn Louise "Palmer" McClain was born March 14, 1947, in Wilmington, North Carolina to her mother Gladys Dutton. She was called to be with the Lord on December 2, 2015 in Cambridge, Maryland, the place she considered home. Evelyn graduated from Mace Lane High School in 1964. She later attended St Philips College and Wayland College. She became a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and later received a Bachelor's Degree Occupational Health from Wayland University. She was a lifelong learner who continued school until her death pursuing a Master's Degree. Evelyn was married for 20 years. Their union produced two children Terence (Terry) Ray McClain and Monica Melissa McClain-Reese. Evelyn was a quiet but thoughtful person with a peaceful soul. She loved the Lord and always put him first. Evelyn was an avid supporter of the Civil Rights movement participating in the famed March on Washington. She loved the beach and passed the love on to her children and grandchildren. She spent countless summers at the beach with her grandchildren and children. She went to different beaches but Ocean City was her favorite. Evelyn loved to travel and fulfilled one of her goals and travelled to South Africa when she was attending church at the Porter's House In Ft. Worth Texas. Evelyn McClain was a faithful follower in of Christ. While living in Cambridge, Md. She became a member of Waugh Methodist Church and sang in two choirs. She enjoyed attending bible study. The most important thing was how she could serve and please the Lord. Evelyn had a helpful spirit and wanted to help people in any way possible. Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Dutton and grandmother, Evelyn Palmer. Evelyn is survived be her two children Terrence McClain and Monica McClain Reese and her husband Darrell Reese. Her loving grandchildren Mahogany McClain, Skyler McClain, and Darrell Reese Jr also survive her. In addition to her loving family she is survived by a host of classmates from Mace Lane High School that remained dear friends until the day she was called to be with the Lord. A Service of Celebration is scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, December 19th at Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church with a viewing two hours prior to the service.
