Eva Mae McCloud, 85

NORFOLK, Va. - Eva Mae McCloud, of Norfolk, departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home. She was 85. She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Exmore, daughter of the late Phil Richardson of Exmore, and Lola Mapp Major of Cambridge, Md. She attended public school in Exmore and she spent most of her early life in Exmore before making Norfolk her home. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. Eva married Charles McCloud on Sept. 16, 1961. They were married for 42 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, James Cornish (Betty) of Norfolk; a devoted niece, Paulette Brown; a special niece, and caregiver, Dorothy Ford Aboobacker of Norfolk; two grandsons, James and Tony Cornish; and one great-grandchild, all of Norfolk; one brother, John Major of Cambridge, Md.; eight sisters, Ella Mae Brown, Rosalie Clark, and Nettie Keene of Cambridge, Sara Lake (Beverly) and Lucille Warrington (John), all of Hurlock, Md., Eunice Hubbard of Preston, Md., Geraldine Flamer of New Jersey, and Estella Laws of Easton, Md.; one uncle, Roy May of Exmore; 15 nieces, and nine nephews, and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding her in death includes her mother, father, stepfather, John Major; one sister, Marie Cornish; and two brothers, Linwood Major and Rayfield Major. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at New Mt. Olive Full Gospel Baptist Church, 600 Douglas St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Interment Bethel Cemetery.
