Eugene Carl Scurti

CRISFIELD - Eugene Carl Scurti died Monday, Apr. 3, 2017, at PRMC.
Born in Wilmington, Del., on Feb. 27, 1943, he was a son of the late John Scurti and Victoria Tarr Caldwell.
At the time of his death he was employed by the Chelsea Lane Tyler passenger vessel. He enjoyed fishing and helping with the Smith Island school boat. He became like a father and grandfather to many in Crisfield and Smith Island. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War era and was a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Scurti.
He is survived by four sons, Jay Scurti, Jeff Scurti and wife, Jodi, Joey Scurti, and Joel Scurti and wife, Beth; five grandchildren, Nicole Papili, Joel Scurti, Jr., Miranda Scurti, Rachel Scurti, and Samantha Scurti; three great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Madison Papili and one to be born in October 2017; an aunt, Grace Nichols; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to the American Legion Post #16, Alan Wade Tyler, Tracy Howard, and NRP Jim Beverage for their help during this difficult time.
A memorial service with military honors was held Sunday, Apr. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m., at American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield. Urn interment will be at a later date in the American Legion Cemetery.
