SALISBURY - Emily C. Ward, "Mom Ward," died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in McClellanville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Campbell and Harry Manigualt. Her husband, Frank Ward Jr., died in 1997. She attended a business school in New York, receiving certification in office management. She was a former member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., and transferred her membership to United Faith Church of Deliverance in Salisbury. She served as a choir member, Missionary, Sunday school teacher and mentor of the former Young Girl's with a Purpose. She was an NAACP supporter and foster grandparent for Shore Up in Salisbury. Her survivors include two daughters, Targee Ballard, of Laurel, Md., and Onicka Ward, of Salisbury; a stepson, Frank Ward, III, of Pocomoke City; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; 14 siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Two siblings, Herman George Campbell and Anna Lee Jones, preceded her in death. A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Mills Memorial Baptist Temple in Salisbury. Interment was at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements were in the care of Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
