CAMBRIDGE - Ella Mae Downs, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son, Isaac Downs III, who was her primary caregiver. She is survived by four children, Margaret Stanley, Deborah (Dewey) Stanley, Isaac Downs III of Cambridge, Maryland and Regina Downs of Baltimore, Maryland; 13 grandchildren, LaShawne Downing, Troy Downs, Ne'cole Stanley, Angelisa (Adam) White, Brian Downs, Denise (Wayne) Hayes, Alesia (Marcus) Manokey, Richard Stanley, Karen Stanley, Bruce (Cynthia) Stanley, James L. Brummell Jr. and Charisse Chappelle; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grandchildren; four sisters, Valerie Woods (Georgetown, Delaware), Elsie Churchwell (Cambridge, Maryland) and Savannah Askins and Daphine (Curtis) Mitchell of Corona, New York; one brother, Leon (Annie) Askins; one dear lifelong friend, Evelyn McCarter, who she loved as a sister; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, extended and two loyal caregivers, who administered care to her as family, Barbara Parker and Keke Williams. Services were held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Bethel AME Church Cambridge. Interment in Bethel Cemetery. Condolences sent to www.henryfuneralhomepa.com.
