Elizabeth Manokey

Elizabeth S. Manokey, 72

CAMBRIDGE - Elizabeth S. Manokey, born June 23, 1936, was called home to eternal rest Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. She was 72. Stella, as she was fondly called, was born in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late William James Manokey, Sr. and Millie Todd Manokey. She attended schools in Dorchester County and completed the Nurses Aide Course at Eastern Shore Hospital Center on December 23, 1965. She worked at Chun King (R.J. Reynolds) in Cambridge, as well as doing private duty sitting until her health failed. Stella is survived by a nephew she raised as her own, Robert Manokey (Westminster); two brothers, Sylvester Manokey (Charlotte Hall) and Calvin (Valarie) Manokey (Cambridge); a devoted sister, Geneva Stanley (Easton); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James, Jr. and Howard Manokey; and sisters, Argetha Swynn and Elsie Lee. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Henry Funeral Home, PA, 510 Washington St., Cambridge, with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment in Old Field Cemetery, Church Creek.
