Elizabeth J. Jones

Elizabeth J. Jones, 84

VIENNA - Elizabeth J. Jones, 84, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at her residence.

She was born in Hurley's Neck on June 2, 1923 and was a daughter of the late John W. and Bessie Hurley Hughes.

Mrs. Jones attended school in Cokeland and Vienna. She was a homemaker. Some of her hobbies were gardening and quilting.

On Dec. 9, 1948 she married Woodrow Jones. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for 50 years and served as treasurer.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Woodrow Jones of Vienna; three daughters, Mabel Harding of Cambridge, Charlotta Snelling of Cambridge and Elizabeth "Bebe" Jones of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Karen Harding, Ronald M. Harding Sr. and Erin Elizabeth Willey and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Elbert Hughes, Emerson Hughes, Floyd Hughes, Maggie English, Arthur Hughes, Doris Hughes and a special sister-in-law, Jeanette Hughes.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Lloyd Massey officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul P.E. Cemetery in Vienna. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Thomas P. Hughes, William Wheatley, Royce Reid, Craig Reid, Craig Gralski and Charles Bell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 5, Vienna, MD 21869.
