SALISBURY - Edwin S. Alling, 93, of Salisbury, died with his family surrounding him on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at his home. Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Edwin Newton Alling and Helen Sears Alling. He graduated from Yale University with a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Creyghton Alling; two sons, Mark S. Alling of Mechanicsville, Va., and Curtis Alling of Folsom, Calif.; a stepson, Norman Hudson-Taylor of Glen Echo, Md.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola Brown Alling; a brother, John Alling; and one sister, Grace Huston. A Life Well Celebrated service was held at Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018. Burial followed at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
