WESTOVER - Edward Allen Plank, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022 at his home in Westover, MD surrounded by family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend to all.
Ed was born on February 29, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Murray and Louise Plank. He was a successful business owner in Carroll County, Maryland prior to moving to the eastern shore in 1977.
Ed had a successful life as a poultry farmer and school bus contractor. After "retirement", Ed enjoyed working for Fred and Tom Lankford in Rehobeth, Maryland for the past 20 years. He was also very active in his community.
Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra C. Plank; daughter, Kelly Plank Dize (Brian); daughter-in-law, Lori Plank Collins (Tom); grandchildren, Emily Dize, Rose Dize, Nick Dize (Kristy), Cati Bedsworth (Tony), Hayley Martin (Kyler), Madison Collins (Fiancé Bryant), Taylor Collins and Will Collins. Ed is also survived by siblings, Ron Plank (Rosa), Judy Glass (Delton); in-laws, Darlene Plank, Greg (Jackie), Mike, David (Maureen) and Rene Burgan, Helen Bowman, Donna Jarboe (Brian); multiple nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Gypsy.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son and best friend, Edward "Eddie" Allen Plank, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Geri and Ned Wright; brother, James Plank; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Helen Burgan; and brother-in-law, Bud Burgan.
Ed was a gentle soul and a good man with a side of sauce. A celebration of his life will be held at the Elks in Pocomoke, Maryland on July 9, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
