SHARPTOWN - Edna Lowe Huston, 89, of Sharptown, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, in Wilmington, Del. Born on Feb. 3, 1920, and raised in Sharptown, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Lowe and Jerusha Hurley Lowe. She had been a life-long resident of Sharptown, Maryland, until a recent illness. Preceding her in death was her husband William Huston who died in 1979. Ms. Huston was a active member of the Eastern Star, a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a former member of the Cambridge Yacht Club, and an avid bridge player and competitive back-gammon player. She was a successful business woman and owner of Lucille's Flowers in Salisbury for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Huston Atkinson and son-in-law Albert Atkinson, Jr. of Wilmington, Del.; a son, Ronald Huston and daughter-in-law Polly Huston of Beaufort, N.C.; grandsons, Michael Spadea and Matthew Spadea of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Melissa Taylor of New Bern, N.C.; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Lowe Collison, of Cambridge with whom she visited often. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Eleanora Lowe Yates and Marie Lowe Hastings of Cambridge, Naomi Lowe Owens of Chester, Md., and brothers, Roy Lowe of Washington, D.C. and Fulton Lowe and Levin Lowe of Sharptown. A graveside service was held Friday, August 21st at the Sharptown Fireman's Memorial Cemetery, Sharptown.
