SALISBURY - Donald Crawford Sewell, 90, of Salisbury, died Friday, March 11, 2016. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late George Crawford Sewell and Oma Brohawn Sewell. A highly decorated World War II veteran in the Army Air Corp, he entered the war as flying missions over France and went on to be part of the Normandy Beach Invasion. He was a lifetime member and former commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 194 in Salisbury, and a longtime member the American Legion. He served as a Vestryman at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Hebron and on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Bank of Mardela Spring, and worked for the State Highway Administration for over 30 years. He is survived by two sons, Charles B. Sewell of North Carolina and Donald Craig Sewell of Mardela Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Jacqueline E. Sewell, in 1994. A graveside funeral service with Military Honors was held Wednesday at Mardela Memorial Cemetery in Mardela Springs. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.
