Dewitt E. White

SALISBURY - Dewitt Ernest White, 88, of Salisbury, died on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury on February 12, 1927 he was the son of the late Frank Edward White and Mary Jane Rounds White. "Whitey" was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He retired after 38 years of service at Oliphant Chevrolet Sales Inc. He was a 28-year member of BPOE Elks No. 817, Christ United Methodist Church, AARP and a former member of Grace United Methodist Church. He also served as a member of the East Salisbury PTA and participated in Administrative Management Society. He is survived by his daughters, Diane Lynn Wilson of Greenwood and Karen E. Culver of Salisbury; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and his companion of 15 years, Mary Ann George. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris P. White. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury. The entombment will be private at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
