BALTIMORE - Delores Ann Groves, 55, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at her residence in Baltimore.

She was born Nov. 6, 1950, daughter of the late Robert Williams and the late Bertha Townsend.

At an early age she moved to Cambridge to reside with her father and stepmother, Frances W. Williams. She was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating from Mace's Lane High School in the Class of 1969.

Mrs. Groves furthered her education at the Dorchester General Hospital School of Practical Nursing and received her diploma in 1970, attended the Robert Tilton School of Ministry (Bible College) and received a two-year certificate in 1984; she also attended New Haven Real Estate School and received a certificate in Principles and Practices of Real Estate in 1989.

Mrs. Groves had her most recent employment at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Geriatric Center (Baltimore) for 13 years and served as staffing coordinator. During her earlier years she had employment at Silver Springs Nursing Center, Hamden Health Care, Barnett Multi Health Care Center and Winthrop Continuing Care Center, all located in Connecticut.

Before moving to Connecticut, she had experiences in Maryland with The Eastern

Shore State Hospital, Crownsville State Hospital, and Montebello State Hospital.

She was always employed and was a Mary Kay Consultant for several years and won numerous awards for her service.

She was a member of the House of Prayer Ministries.

She is survived by a son, Michael Williams of Baltimore; three grandchildren - Stephon Williams and Latoya Williams, both of Connecticut, Zhaden Myster of Cambridge and mother, Francis W. Williams of Cambridge; two sisters, Vanessa Saunders of Cambridge and Diane Boswell of Atlanta; a brother, Norman D. Chester Sr. of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Dixie Chester of Dayton, Ohio and Cassandra Wheatley of New Carrollton; one brother-in-law, Richard Boswell of Atlanta; a daughter-in-law, Thomasine Hamlet Williams of Baltimore; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; a close friend, James Upshaw of New Jersey; two longtime friends, Affilena Woolford-Sonnier of Baltimore and Daphne Smith of North Carolina.

Other than her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert L. Williams, James Wheatley and Carl Wheatley.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday at Refuge Temple Church of God, Cambridge. Burial will follow in Beckwith Cemetery.

There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge. Persons may visit during the afternoon.
