DELMAR- David Clifford Wainwright, Sr. died Thurs., Apr. 9, 2015, at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Homer Edward Wainwright and Mary Katie Layton Wainwright. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy of Delmar. He started out being in construction like his father and then began work as a private investigator for over 20 years. In addition he was head of security at the Delmar Racetrack. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Lee Shockley Wainwright; two children, Debra Ellen Harpool of Delmar and David Clifford Wainwright Jr. of Arden, N.C.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Roland Wainwright and a sister, Elizabeth Morris. A funeral service was held on Wed., Apr. 15, 2015, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment followed at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
