EAST NEW MARKET - David W. Hanson, Sr. passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at his home. He was born in Easton on April 15, 1956 and was a son of the late George W. Hanson, Jr. and Barbara Tallman Hanson. David graduated from North Dorchester High School class of 1974. He was employed with Western Printing until they closed and later he was employed at Craig's Drug Store at the time of his passing. David enjoyed Civil War reinactment, wood working, gardening and deer hunting. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge and to the 2nd Maryland Infantry, CO. H, 1st Legion, Provisional Army of the Confederate States. He is survived by his son, David W. Hanson, Jr. of Rising Sun, Md.; two daughters, Heather L. Hanson of Easton, and Tammy Wroten of Cambridge; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles W. Hanson and wife Charlotte of Cambridge; a niece, Christie E. Wheatley of Cambridge; his fiancee, Helen Sapp of Fla.; and several other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Steve Trice officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the 2nd Maryland Company, c/o General Brian Gesuero, 313 West Central Ave., Federalsburg, MD 21632.
