David George Gray
ELLIOTT ISLAND - David George Gray, 64, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, at home.
Born on July 18, 1942, in Reid's Grove, Dorchester County, he was the son of the late Joseph H. Gray and the late Helen North Gray Dixon and stepson of the late John Dixon. He was raised on Elliott Island and graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1960.
On Oct. 21, 1961, he married Doris E. Horsman of Vienna.
Mr. Gray operated two service stations in Cambridge from 1967 until 1973.
From 1973 until 1977 he worked for Clark Equipment Co. In 1977 he worked for Ross Wells and in 1979 Mr. Gray went to Alabama to build a new pet food processing facility and remained there until 1988. He returned to Maryland in 1988 and worked for Coldwater Seafood in Cambridge until 1993, when his health began to fail.
Mr. Gray was a board member for the Dorchester County Shore Erosion Control. He was known for his talents and ability to build and repair most anything.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, Mr. Gray was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Herbert Gray; two sisters, Marie Robinson and Louella Abbott; two aunts, Lois Smack and Inez North Abbott; and an uncle, Herbert R. North Sr.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris Gray of Elliott Island; one son, Ronald Gray of Elliott Island; two daughters, Rhonda Gray of Delmar, Kimberly Esham and her husband, Greg of Salisbury; and one grandson, Brandon Gray; two brothers, Joseph Stephen Gray and his wife, Janice of Michigan, Michael Gray and his wife, Cherelyn of Elliott Island; one sister, Linda Ball of Cambridge; one aunt, Ruth Hurst of Port Ritchie, Fla.; and one uncle, Johnnie North of Cambridge, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at noon Wednesday, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. J. Edward King, pastor of Souls Harbor Church of God. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Bradshaw, Michael Bradshaw, Tommy Robinson, Timmy Robinson, Bill Windsor, Greg Esham and Chet Martinek.
