(nee Malone), 88 PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Colleen Hughes (nee Malone), 88, of Port Charlotte, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at her Port Charlotte home. Colleen was born on December 19, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Ozone Park, New York. Colleen and her family lived in Cambridge, Maryland where she was a daycare provider for many years. She loved helping others and shortly after moving to Port Charlotte in 1990 she became a volunteer at Bon Secours St. Joseph's Hospital and did so for 20 years. Colleen was an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Colleen is survived by her devoted husband of almost 70 years, George Lenwood; eight dedicated children, Linda Clementson of Port Charlotte, Fla., Dennis (Julie) Hughes of White Hall, Md., Mick (Bonnie) Hughes of Baldwin, Md., Janet (Neal) Wolle of Elkridge, Md., Nancy (Steve) Tyre of Bridgeville, Del., Tom (Sue) Hughes of Ellicott City, Md., Joey (Teresa) Hughes of East New Market, Md., and Sean (Misty) Hughes of Cape Coral, Fla.; sixteen loving grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, John Malone of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Leonard Larson of Hart, Mich., and many nieces and nephews. Colleen was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Mulligan; and grand-daughter, Robin Mansfield. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, 801 Race St. Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
