Charles J. Michalk, 89 PROSPECT PARK, Pa. - Charles J. Michalk, age 89, of Prospect Park, passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Michalk was born on Jan. 10, 1920, in Clementon, N.J., to the late Charles P. and Margaret (Duke) Michalk. He had been the proprietor of "Charlies," a tap room in Prospect Park, for many years. Mr. Michalk served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed spending time at his son's home in Cambridge, Md., where he spent his leisure hours boating, fishing and crabbing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Michalk was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Eleanor D. (Winterbottom) Michalk; daughter, Nancy Scull, and son, Charles P. Michalk. He is survived by his granddaughter, Eleanor Sycz, with whom he lived; grandsons, John Scull, and Michael Scull; daughter-in-law, Arlene Michalk and her three children; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may visit after 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
