POWELLVILLE - Charles Edward Colbourne died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Colbourne and the husband of Dorothy Colbourne. He was an active member of the Powellville Volunteer Fire Company for 51 years, where he served as Chief for 18 years and as an EMT. He worked for Verizon for over 35 years and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Alice Colbourne and Joy E. Connor; two grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Marie Adkins; and a niece and nephew. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Powellville Volunteer Fire Company. Burial was at Perdue Cemetery in Powellville. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
