CHURCH CREEK - Catherine T. "Snookie" Spicer, 96, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at her home.
She was born in Cambridge on Oct. 29, 1911 and was a daughter of the late Edward and India Belle Twilley Thomas.
Miss Snookie graduated from Cambridge High School and continued on to nursing school at Cambridge Maryland Hospital, class of 1933. She was a LPN and most of the time she did private duty nursing.
On March 18, 1944 she married Arthur Keene Spicer who passed away on July 13, 1995. From 1965-1975 she was a secretary at South Dorchester High School and retired and lived six in months in Key West and six months in Church Creek. Miss Snookie volunteered at Cambridge Maryland and Dorchester General Hospital for 55 years in the Auxiliary. She was a member of Dorchester Historical Society and the Farm Bureau.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Spicer Phillips and her husband, Harry of Fishing Creek; a son, Lingan T. "Lin" Spicer and wife, Linda of Church Creek; three grandsons, Jason M. Spicer, Mark C. Phillips and Phoenix "Buzz" Bell; a granddaughter, Margaret Catherine "Katie" Doll of Church Creek; two great-grandchildren, Devon Doll and Dylan Doll.
Besides her parents and her husband, Miss Snookie was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Thomas; a brother, Guy Thomas and a grandson, Michael Spicer.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard.
