PRINCESS ANNE — An outdoor drama based on the historical novel Makepeace by Jeanne du Nord will be presented at the 350^th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of Somerset County September 17 at the Parks and Recreation Field in Westover.

The playwright, Princess Anne resident Jeanne du Nord, says that the script has been written to be “friendly to the actors.” The actors will not have to memorize their lines or worry about projecting them in the outdoors because there will be a pre-recorded soundtrack with music, sound effects and the actors reading their lines in the sound studio. All the costumed actors will have to do is physically play the roles.

There are parts for 10 characters — 6 men and 4 women.  Those interested should contact Jeanne du Nord at LH123@comcast.net.

Long-experienced in theatre, du Nord began working at age 12 on TV and the Broadway stage. In addition to nine published books, she has written two award-winning, critically acclaimed plays — The Green Rocking Chairs and Tides of Time. Makepeace is based on the book by the same name, and deals with the lives of early settlers who came to Lord Baltimore’s land in response to his pledge of personal freedom and religious toleration. It is a very personal drama about their hardships, adventures and triumphs.

The activities to mark Somerset County’s 350^th year will start around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 and end with fireworks that are courtesy of UMES which is also celebrating Founders’ Week at the same time.
