SNOW HILL - Carolyn Ann "Carol" Oland, of Snow Hill, formerly of Frederick, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by her family at Chesapeake Cottage in Snow Hill. Born in Fort Knox, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret "Hazel" South Rich. Following graduation from Academy of the Holy Names in Silver Spring, Md., she continued her education at the University of Maryland at College Park, where she received her teaching degree. She then began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Anne Arundel County and Frederick County public school systems. She completed her masters and doctorate programs at Frostburg State University. After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Wicomico and Worcester County school systems. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth W. Oland Sr.; a son, Kenneth W. Oland Jr. of Salisbury; a daughter, Deborah L. Oland of Salisbury; one granddaughter, Kate Oland; sister, Mary Chwirut of Rockville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. The Rev. E. Thomas Northam will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
