VIENNA - Carol Lee Neal Owens, died Friday, June 19, 2009, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. She was 67. Born in Williamsburg on Dec. 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey Neal and Hattie Milligan Neal. She was educated in Dorchester County schools and graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1959. The Class of 1959 was a closely knit class, and Carol enjoyed staying in touch with her classmates. She retired in 2004 from District Court of Maryland after 30 years as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church, where she had served for a number of years on the administrative board and a member of the Board of Directors for the Dorchester County Library, where she had served as president. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Owens of Vienna; two sons, Nick Owens of Hawaii, and Dan Owens of Virginia; a grandson, Brandon Kyle Owens Sr. of Cambridge; a great-grandson, Brandon Kyle Owens Jr. of Vienna; a brother, Bob Neal and his wife Gaynell of Texas; and a sister, Ruby Neal of Crisfield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Vienna United Methodist Church. Mr. David Tolley will officiate. Interment will follow in McKendree Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mrs. Owens may be made to Brandon Kyle Owens Jr. Fund, c/o Hebron Savings Bank, Attn: Liz Tyler, P. O. Box 158, Vienna, MD 21869.
