SALISBURY - Betty Jane Corbin Shehan, 90, of Salisbury, died Aug. 3, 2015, of injuries sustained in a fall. The daughter of Maurice E. Corbin and Carrie Doeller Corbin, she was born in Woodbine, Md., eventually relocating to Baltimore. She was a 1944 graduate of the Girls Latin School and upon graduation was employed by the McCormick Co. In 1950, she married William Henry Shehan Jr., who was the grandson of the past Mayor of Baltimore Howard W. Jackson. This union resulted in five children. During her spare time she found time to be a teacher's aide (Elkridge Elementary School), and was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department. The final place she called home was Salisbury; she retired from Peninsula Regional Medical Center in 1991 when she retired. She volunteered at the hospital for another 15 years and compiled over 10,000 hours of volunteer service. She was a communicant of St. John's Methodist Church in Fruitland. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Shehan, Jr.; her brother, Maurice E. Corbin; and her sister, Carlyn Corbin Draisey. She is survived by her children, Ginny Stickles, Judy Wheeler, Jane Shehan, Bill Shehan and JoAnne Kelly; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at St. John's United Methodist Church on Aug. 8, 2015. Interment was private. Arrangements were in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
