Betty L. Weidler, 74

HURLOCK - Betty Lee Weidler, 74, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 at her home.

She was born Nov. 14, 1931 in Hurlock, daughter of the late Arthur W. Jones and Catherine Reed Jones.

She was a graduate of Hurlock High School. She worked for Continental Can in Hurlock for many years, retiring in 1984.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hurlock; Hurlock American Legion Post 243 Ladies Auxiliary; a past member of Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter 51; Women of The Moose Lodge 1084 in Cambridge; VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5246 in Federalsburg.

She is survived by three children: Katherine Carlson and her husband, Donald of Hurlock; John "Van" Weidler III of Hurlock and Krone Weidler and her companion, Susan Daurie of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Marilyn Blair and her husband, Terry, Traci Weidler and Michelle Corbin and her husband, Dan; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Arthur "Sonny" Jones of Hurlock; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Vandling Weidler Jr. who died in 1977; three sisters, Patsy Porch, Virginia Milligan and Charlotte "Stump" Todd.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Hurlock. The service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Francis Trascritti officiating. Burial will follow in the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery in Beulah.

Pallbearers will be Van Weidler, Frank Wright, Jeff Fletcher, Ronnie Allen, Adam Corkran and Terry Blair. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Tennart and Jack Garris.

Memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or to First Baptist Church, 103 Poplar St., Hurlock, MD 21643.

Arrangements are being handled by the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market.
