POWELLVILLE - Bertie Jeannette Kelly died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Powellville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Burton Chandler and Jennie Sayers Johnson Chandler. She was a graduate of Wicomico High School. In her earlier years, she worked as a paralegal secretary at various law firms. She was married to a career military husband, traveling all over the country while raising their family. Since moving to Powellville, she became a member of the Powellville United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women. She is survived by five children, J. Bruce Kelly of Powellville, Susan Dennis of Willards, Thomas Kelly of Powellville, David Kelly of Powellville and Brenda Kelly-Bowden of Powellville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley "Fred" Chandler of Powellville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband, Joseph Henry Kelly, in 2015; five siblings, Richard Johnson, Mabel Johnson, Elton Johnson, Lloyd Chandler and Gertrude Donaway; and a special niece, Muriel Pomeroy. A funeral service was held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment was in Powellville Cemetery.
