Barbara Ellen Shorter Myerly, 67
LINKWOOD - Barbara Ellen Shorter Myerly, 67, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Born on December 21, 1940 in Cambridge, MD, she was the daughter of Murial Elizabeth Airey Shorter of Cambridge, MD, and the late Granville S. Shorter.
Barbara was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1956.
On September 11, 1967, she married Roy Franklin Myerly, Jr. She was a member of Souls Harbor Church of God in Cambridge, MD.
Barbara had been a private duty nurse for many years. She enjoyed bingo, reading, spending time with her family and her cat Mow. She also like going to the Cambridge Diner with her husband for coffee and visiting her friends.
Surviving besides her mother Murial Shorter of Cambridge, MD and husband Roy Myerly of Linkwood, MD are two daughters Melody LaChappelle of Cambridge, MD, Faith Cannon and son-in-law Jerry Lee Cannon both of Marion, MD, a granddaughter who she raised as her daughter Angel Renee Osborne of Bridgeville, DE, two sisters Holly Ann Cook and her husband William of Salem, Yvonne Church and her husband Terry of Cambridge, MD, brother Jerry Shorter and his wife Nicole of Hurlock, MD, two granddaughters Shelly Tinsley of Crisfield, MD, Jerri Lynn Rayfield of Marion, MD, seven great-grandchildren Michael LaChappelle, Bobby Daniels, III, Paul Osborne, Jr., Dylan Tinsley, Dustin Tinsley, Patrick Osborne and Aireana Rayfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death besides her father Granville S. Shorter, were two brothers Jimmy Shorter, Sammy Shorter and a granddaughter Stephanie Daniels.
Funeral services were held at Souls Harbor Church of God in Cambridge January 21 at 1 p.m. The Rev. J. Edward King, Pastor of Souls Harbor Church of God officiated, assisting at the service was the Rev. Phillip Morris, Pastor of Crisfield Church of God. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were William Cook, Willie Cook, Teri Church, Wade Johnson, Chris Tinsley, Ahmet Kir and Jerry Shorter. Honorary Pallbearer will be Paul Joseph Osborne, Jr.
Memorial offerings may be made in Barbara's memory to Souls Harbor Church of God, 718 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
