CAMBRIDGE - Ann Marie Brooks, 78, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at her home.

She was born in Cambridge on Oct. 19, 1929, and was a daughter of the late John Richard and Evelyn Putnam Brown.

She attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge High School in 1947.

On July 3, 1950 she was married to Charles C. Brooks. Mrs. Brooks worked for a short time at Rob Roy and had been a homemaker for most of her life. She had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Mrs. Brooks enjoyed doing crafts and crocheting, and also enjoyed going to flea markets. For a number of years she and her sisters had been involved in doing family genealogy and traveling together.

She had been in failing health since September.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Charles C. "Chuck" Brooks Sr. of Cambridge; one son, Charles C. Brooks Jr. of Cambridge; one sister, Dot Bramble and her husband, Charles Bramble of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, John Charles Brooks and two sisters, Yvonne Brown and Lora Lee Shilling.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.

Pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Charles Bramble, C.R. Bramble, Scott Shilling, Todd Shilling, James H. Fitzhugh and Bobby Jones.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge, MD, 21613 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
