TANGIER, VA. - Angela Smith Davis, 77, wife of the late Reese Davis and a lifelong resident of Tangier, VA, passed away at the residence of her daughter in Painter, VA on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.
Born on May 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Norman Smith and Helen Moore Smith. Mrs. Davis was a former longtime waitress for the Chesapeake House for over 50 years and a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Holdgrafer of Tangier, Mary D. Crockett and husband Henry of Painter; a son, Clifton Davis and wife Kathy of Tangier; sister, Nedra Williams of Tangier; two granddaughters, Mindy Gibson and Claudette Brown; two grandsons, Jackie Crockett and Jesse Davis; many great and great-great grandchildren; and several nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, Ed and Norman Smith; two grandchildren, Vi Pruitt and Jonathan Holdgrafer; a great-grandchild, Ayden Reese Brown; and a son-in-law, John Holdgrafer.
A memorial service was held from the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. The Rev. John R. Jones and Mr. Tracy Moore officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 199, Tangier, VA 23440 or to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, VA 23421.
Arrangements were handled by the Williams Funeral Homes. Parksley, VA.
