Andre M. Roberts, 51

MANOKIN - Andre M. Roberts, 51, of Manokin died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born on Aug. 3, 1956, in Baltimore, he was the son of Shirley Roberts and the late James Roberts. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Perdue Processing Plant in Salisbury. He was also co-founder of the Classy Cats Barber and Boutique, also located in Salisbury. He received his education in the Baltimore school systems. He joined the Army at an early age and received an honorable discharge.

He was joined in marriage to Michelle (Collins) Roberts on Feb. 25, 2006. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a grandmother, Louise Kellam; three daughters, Terria Roberts of Baltimore, Tara Nixon of Landover, and Takeisha Collins of Fairmount; one son, Lamont White of Princess Anne; eight sisters, Odessa Prater, Peggy Kellam, Paulette Roberts, Desiri Roberts, Bandie Wilson (Jay), Theresa Maxfield, Patricia Hightower (Joseph) and Robin Turman, and one brother, Byron Brown, all of Baltimore.

He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Karron Davis, Kaiya Johns and Kaleah Johns, all of Baltimore, Noah Connor of Landover, and Jeremiah Cotton and Kaleb White of Manokin; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill with the Rev. Dianne Henry officiating. Burial was in Centennial United Methodist Cemetery in Fairmount.

Arrangements were handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
