ANDREWS - Allen Carl Prahl, of Andrews, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. He was 78. "Fuzzy," as he was known to family and friends, was born on May 11, 1931, in Denton, to the late George Allen and Margaret Carey Prahl. He was educated in Talbot County Public Schools. Mr. Prahl worked on his father's farms and was later a waterman. He retired from Dorchester County Roads Board on June 1, 1986 as a heavy equipment operator after 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Williams Construction of Easton. Carl enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid sports fisherman, and a diehard Orioles baseball fan. As a member of the Local Moose Lodge #1211, Cambridge, he held offices of treasurer and governor. He attended the Cambridge Church of the Nazarene and was a friend of all people. He is survived by three children, Dawn Auman and her husband Mark of Denton, Jeffrey Prahl and friend Kathy Mowbray of Hurlock, and Kathy J. Humphries and her husband Dale of Hurlock; a sister, Doris Moran of North East; three brothers, William H. Prahl and his wife Joyce of Cambridge, Wilmer L. Prahl and his wife Cindy of Beauford, S.C., and Rev. Richard K. Prahl and his wife Rev. Sharon Prahl of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; his girlfriend, Mae Fitzhugh of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Clifton Prahl in 2007 and John A. Prahl in 2009. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 21, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton. Services will follow at noon. Burial will follow at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cambridge Church of the Nazarene, 97 Sandy Hill Rd., Cambridge, MD 21613.
