Members of the Action Council of the Partnership for a Drug-Free Dorchester took part in the 3rd Annual Prevention Walk in Hurlock on Saturday.

HURLOCK — Young people and their mentors hit the streets on Saturday to support drug abuse prevention in Dorchester County. Sponsored by the Youth Action Council of the Partnership for a Drug-Free Dorchester, the 3rd Annual Prevention Walk started at Collins Avenue and ended at Charles Street in the park. After the walk, there were family-friendly activities and educational information.

“The Youth Action Council (YAC) would like to thank everyone who came out to support our Prevention Walk,” a statement from the group said. “It was a great turnout and a huge success. We look forward to seeing you all next year.”

The YAC thanked vendors WBOC-FM 102.5, Cambridge Police Department, Fenix Youth Project, Young Life, and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

The council is a subcommittee of the Partnership, comprised of middle and high school students, giving the teen agers a voice in addressing substance abuse issues they see in their county.
