Woodrow 'Mutt' W. Moore, 95
CAMBRIDGE - Woodrow "Mutt" W. Moore, 95, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Cambridge on March 4, 1913, and was a son of the late E. Mack and Nettie Tyler Moore. Mr. Moore was the first graduating class from Cambridge High School. On June 26, 1934, he married LoRaine Jones. She passed away on July 24, 1999. Mr. Moore had worked for several grocery stores and operated a grocery store at Academy and Muir. During World War II he served as President of the Maryland Grocery Association. Later he was a sales representative for International Salt Company and Harvey Salt Company and retired in 1978. He was a member of the Rescue Fire Company, Grace United Methodist Church and a past member of the Cambridge Lions Club. He is survived by a son, Richard W. Moore Sr. and his wife Sharon of Cambridge; a daughter-in-law, Mary Moore of Cambridge; two grandsons, Richard W. Moore Jr. of Cambridge and Joseph I. Moore of Davidsonville; three great-grandchildren, Cavin A. Moore, Joseph I. Moore Jr. and Henley E. Moore and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and a granddaughter-in-law, Crystal Murray Moore. Pallbearers will be members of Rescue Fire Company. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rescue Fire Company, P.O. Box 776, Cambridge, MD 21613.
