CAMBRIDGE - William Roland Travers Sr., 55, died Saturday night, Feb. 10, 2007, at University of Maryland Shock Trauma, Baltimore.

Born on Aug. 5, 1951, in Cambridge, he was the son of C. Kenneth Travers Sr. of Linkwood and Isabelle Kato of Cambridge.

Roland, as he was known, attended South Dorchester High School and was from Hoopers Island.

He was a boat carpenter and worked with his father who owns Travers Restoration in Cambridge.

Mr. Travers liked painting decoys, reading, fishing and hunting.

Surviving besides his parents are five children, William Roland Travers Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Chestertown, Dawn Michelle Saulsbury and her husband, John of Denton, Jeffrey Morgan Travers and his wife, Melissa of Smyrna, Tenn., Laura Katherine Travers and her fiancé, Daniel Lister of Ridgely, Amanda Regina Jolene Manuel of Florida; three grandsons, Zachary Dickerson, Brandon McGinnis, Joseph Travers; two sisters, Marianne Travers of Spartanburg, S.C., Sandy Niese and her husband, Dirk of Leesburg, Va.; three brothers, C. Kenneth Travers Jr. of Silver Spring, Joseph Travers and his wife, Linda of Severn, John Travers and his wife, Shirley of Greenwood, Del.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and former wife, Deborah Travers of Centreville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Joseph Kelly. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to benefit the education of Roland"s youngest child to 1st Mariner Bank, for Benefit of Amanda Manuel, 8662 Alicia Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
