SALISBURY - William Lee Hammond Sr., died at home with his family at his side on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late, Milton Hammond and Esther H. Kehoe and the stepson of the late John P. Kehoe. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine H. Hammond; children, Carolyn H. deBernard, of Magnolia and William Hammond, of Berlin; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was a 1968 graduate of Salisbury State Teachers College with a master's degree in education. He was an educator for 30 years, as a teacher, vice principal and principal in Wicomico County schools. He was a member of Wicomico Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee, elder and clerk of session. He received the Dean's distinguished Alumni Award from Towson University College of Education. A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at the Wicomico Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
