William J. Nelson

SALISBURY - William J. Nelson died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Walter and Lola Larmore Nelson.
He graduated from Wicomico High School, Class of 1944, and then entered the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in World War II.
He was employed as a banker for his entire life, working for Farmer's & Merchant's Bank, Union Trust Co. and First National Bank (which is now M&T.) He was an active member of the Salisbury Lion's Club, where he served as president in 1974.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Nelson and Thomas Nelson; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Frase Nelson; and a brother, John Nelson.
A graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
