CAMBRIDGE - Wilbert Bolden, of Cambridge, departed this life Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, in Deer's head Hospital in Salisbury. He was 62. Born May 26, 1946, in Cokesbury, he was the son of the late Reuben Henry Evans and Reva Eleanor Bolden. Wilbert attended Maces Lane High School then later joined the Army receiving an honorable discharge. In 1980, Wilbert joined hands with Arlette Travers Bolden. Out of that union they raised five daughters, two of which were their own. Wilbert was a family oriented person always willing to listen, while voicing his honest opinion. He was employed by the Hyatt Regency, were he was loved by many. Beside his wife Arlette of 28 years, he leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Candice Bolden of Cambridge and Dorinda Bolden of Rock Hill, S.C.; three stepdaughters, Joyce Stafford-Izzard of Rock Hill, S.C., Wendy Stafford-Jones of Cambridge and La'Keshia Chester-Farrare of Rock Hill, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, La'Neeka Dickerson, Carnishia Diaz, Te'Ara George, Ric'Qwanna Neely, Anthony Farrare Jr., Rae'Kwon Henneghen, Ke'Ozia and Dajon Farrare, Jay'Vion and Jazha Johnson, three great-grandchildren, Kierra Dickerson, Ja'kayla Witherspoon, and JaMariya George; six sisters, Mary Batson, Florine Bolden Brummell, Delphine Bolden Warren, Parthenia Bolden Lake, Imogene Bolden and Gloria Batson; two aunts, Catherine Lewis and Marion Batson; two sons-in-law, Macilinley Izzard, Anthony Farrare Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Charles Lake. Along a host of nieces and nephews, and other members. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Drexel Lee Bolden and Carmon Douglas Bolden; a sister, Shirley Bolden Brummell; a niece Tawanda Batson; a nephew Wayne Bolden; a son-in-law, Ronald W. Jones Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Batson and Donald Lee Brummell. Funeral services will be at Bennie Smiths funeral home in Cambridge on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral service. There will also be a public viewing today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennie Smith's funeral home in Cambridge. Burial will follow at the Cokesbury burial grounds.
