Wayne Spencer, 64

TYASKIN - Wayne Spencer, 64, of Tyaskin, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at his home. Wayne was born May 9, 1945, in Cambridge, Md., to the late Charles and Mary Spencer. Wayne served in the K-9 Patrol for 26 of his 31 years with the Maryland State Police. A true eastern shoreman, he was happiest outdoors. He worked for many years as a commercial waterman and owned and ran Invitational Farm with his wife Myra. Wayne loved his animals, especially the dogs, horses, and cattle he raised and cared for. However, his passion was showing and breeding Welsh Ponies. He served in various leadership positions, including President and Board Member, for the Combined Eastern Shore Horse Shows and Wicomico Equestrian Center. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by wife, Myra Spencer of Tyaskin; daughter, Kelly Spencer Van Dopp and her husband Drew of Quantico; grandsons, Spencer Andrew Van Dopp, and Jack Henry Van Dopp; brother, Charles Spencer and wife Vicci of Ridgway, Colo.; and three nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McAllister. A funeral services were Monday, Sept. 21, at Holloway Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Del. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
